Alara Reborn is the third and final set in the Shards of Alara block. Alara Reborn expands on the mechanics introduced in Shards of Alara and injects even more powerful gold cards into the block.
Alara Reborn will follow the new publishing standards set by Wizards of the Coast in Shards of Alara. That is, mythic rares will be included in one out of every eight packs. Intro packs will contain 41 cards and one booster pack, and will replace preconstructed theme decks.
Set Size and Product Offerings:
* 145 black-bordered cards (10 Mythic Rare, 35 rare, 40 uncommon, 60 common)
* Alara Reborn will be sold in Booster Packs, Intro Packs, & Fat Packs (Fat Packs contain 8 booster packs).
* Intro packs are a new SKU introduced with Shards of Alara. Each Intro Pack contains a ready-to-play 41 card deck, 1 Booster pack, a strategy insert, and a Magic the Gathering rules insert for new players. Each deck comes with two rare cards, one of which is a premium foil rare card that is visible through the front of the box. There are 5 different Intro Packs in Alara Reborn, packed 5 per box.
* The worldwide release of Alara Reborn will be Thursday April 30th. The release date was moved forward 1 day in observance of international Labor Day (May 1st).
* A new paperback novel by Doug Beyer will be released in May 2009. Alara Unbroken will tell the full story of the Shards of Alara, Conflux, and Alara Reborn, focusing on the planeswalker characters introduced in the block.

Magic 2010 is a Magic: The Gathering expansion set, set to be released on July 17, 2009. It is the eleventh core set for Magic: the Gathering. It is the first core set since the original "Alpha/Beta" release to feature new cards. In addition to new cards it will also contain about 50% reprints.

Magic 2010 or M10 for short marks a major shift in the way Wizards of the Coast produces and markets the "Core" set of their marquee trading card game, Magic: The Gathering. M10 will be the first core set since Revised (the third edition) to not be labeled with an ordinal number. Another important marketing change is that starting with Magic 2010, Wizards of the Coast will release a new core set every year, instead of every two years, as it has done since 1995. Most significantly, Magic 2010 will be the first set since the first edition (Alpha & Beta) to contain brand new cards. Every other core set from 2nd to 10th edition has contained only reprints from previous sets. M10 will not be all new cards, however. About half of the cards will be reprints.
M10 will be the first core set to include "mythic rares" as well as the first core set to include planeswalkers, a relatively new card type which was first introduced in 2007. All five of the initial set of planeswalkers from Lorwyn will be reprinted in M10 as mythic rares.
Wizards of the Coast is also overhauling the core rules of the game with the introduction of Magic 2010. This will be the first major alteration of the game rules since the introduction of 6th Edition rules in 1999.

* From the Vault: Exiled will be available world-wide in English only, and will have an extremely limited print run.
* All cards are black-bordered and tournament legal. This means that these cards are legal for use in any tournaments where the original printings are still legal.
