I've been playing magic since Judgment, but only got involved in organised play when Lorwyn came out. Since then I've developed my game and built up a reputation as a deckbuilder. I spent a decent amount of time on the Wizards Forums spawned several standard archetypes, most famously Twin Sanity, but also the RUG land destruction deck during SOA-ZEN, Tezz-Infect and RWB Reanimator. I made the Pro Tour for the first Modern event in Philadelphia.

Loves a brew, so long as it's Blue-White and Tier 1.... or Earl Gray.

I'm kind of a big deal. I live in Edinburgh, in an apartment which smells of rich mahogany and contains many leather-bound books.
I'm nearly thirty, it's pretty grim.
I've been playing this children's card game for far too long.
I hate Coldplay, and make reference to this on average once per article. I'm not sorry, they're awful.Ben Heath
Reigning 'Manchester Irrelevant Format Champion' and perennial underachiever. I will have my Pro Tour Invite, in this life or the next.

Raka Control in the new Standard – Spread the Sickness with Grant Hislop
Posted on October 23, 2012 | No CommentsThe deck I’m advocating today is a Standard deck, and I’m pretty sure that if it’s not the best deck in the format, it’s reasonably close. -

Are too many tournaments bad for Magic? – Fact not Fiction with Michael Maxwell
Posted on July 2, 2012 | 1 CommentThere is then a snowball effect as more and more people pick up the deck, the same good players keep doing well, and then write saying how good the deck is and how bad you are for not playing it. There’s only so long people can ignore that before they jump ship. -
GP Lille 2012: What to Expect – Crucible of Words by Cyrus Bales
Posted on March 1, 2012 | No CommentsThis weekend promises a lot of magic action in the form of GP Lille. The GP’s format is going to be Standard and today I’ll be talking about what we can expect for it and go over some of my thought processes leading upto the event. -
The Modern Metagame – Marshalls Anthem with Lewis Marshall
Posted on January 3, 2012 | 2 CommentsI have tried to play with as many different deck ideas as possible, with tweaking , and altering them as much as possible, and so far I have a very small list of decks I like personally. -
So you want to get into Legacy? Fact not Fiction with Michael Maxwell
Posted on December 31, 2011 | 1 CommentAbout 12 months ago if you'd asked me to write down everything I knew about Legacy I probably could have it fitted it all onto one side of a post-it note. But now... -
The Pauper Metagame Part 2 – Breaking In with Andrew Quinn
Posted on December 15, 2011 | No CommentsIn my last article I covered the main aggro decks and combo decks in the format [pauper]. In this one, I'm basically going to go over everything else. -
I Ain’t Dun Groving Yet (Modern Magic) – Crucible of Words by Cyrus Bales
Posted on December 12, 2011 | No CommentsLast week I etched out a rough deck in Modern and ran it through a quick series of matches. This week I'll be doing a similar thing with a different deck, Rock.
