I've been playing magic since Judgment, but only got involved in organised play when Lorwyn came out. Since then I've developed my game and built up a reputation as a deckbuilder. I spent a decent amount of time on the Wizards Forums spawned several standard archetypes, most famously Twin Sanity, but also the RUG land destruction deck during SOA-ZEN, Tezz-Infect and RWB Reanimator. I made the Pro Tour for the first Modern event in Philadelphia.

Loves a brew, so long as it's Blue-White and Tier 1.... or Earl Gray.

I'm kind of a big deal. I live in Edinburgh, in an apartment which smells of rich mahogany and contains many leather-bound books.
I'm nearly thirty, it's pretty grim.
I've been playing this children's card game for far too long.
I hate Coldplay, and make reference to this on average once per article. I'm not sorry, they're awful.Ben Heath
Reigning 'Manchester Irrelevant Format Champion' and perennial underachiever. I will have my Pro Tour Invite, in this life or the next.

Esper Control (Standard) 2nd Place Tournament Report by Efka Bladukas
Posted on April 16, 2013 | No CommentsI chose to play a tried-and-true Tier 1 deck rather than something that needed much more work to... well, work. Here is the list I ended up playing -
Spread the Sickness – Esper Control in Standard by Grant Hislop
Posted on April 12, 2013 | No CommentsI got my Standard season off to a semi respectable start at the weekend. I managed a Top 8 at the Scottish WMCQ, followed by a Quarterfinals exit to bumfluff elemental, Bradley Barclay in a mirror match. As I alluded to in my last article, I played Esper. -
Spread the Sickness – Exploring Standard: Decklists & Analysis by Grant Hislop
Posted on April 3, 2013 | No CommentsThe purpose of today’s article is to have a look at what is making up the core of the metagame, and have a look at the strengths and weaknesses of each of the decks that we’ve identified. -
Card Numbers In Control Decks – Wisdom Fae Under the Bridge by Graeme McIntyre
Posted on March 18, 2013 | No CommentsThis article will focus on the number of given cards in control decks, and it’s worth bearing in mind that combo and aggro both need to be thought about in different terms (both feature a lot more 4s generally, because they’re mostly just trying to be efficient). I’ll include my own deck for tomorrow’s PTQ to illustrate examples. -

Posted on December 31, 2012 | No CommentsWhen Return to Ravnica debuted I was all over my favourite shard and strategy, Grixis control. To my friends dismay and disgust... -
Mystical Teachings – 5cc in Standard with David Inglis
Posted on October 19, 2012 | No CommentsI really believe that 4/5 Colour Control could be a part of the metagame. You have the ability too adapt your deck every week to the current metagame, because you have access to every card because your deck produces every colour of mana. -
Return to Ravnica Cards and Standard Deck Ideas by Tom Harle
Posted on October 1, 2012 | 7 CommentsSo the full spoiler is now up and, rather than going through everything card by card I'll just finish talking about the cards I think are going to be most impactful:
