Manaleak Casual Commander (EDH) Challenge Ruleset
Following the success of our new MTG Casual Commander (EDH) ruleset at CommanderCon! in May, we are pleased to announce that our Commander Challenges will use the same rules! Win points in your games for doing the most wacky and stupid things that you can put together, rather than just trying to group hug all the time.
You will play in 4 rounds, playing 4-5 player games and will score points in each game based on the way you play the game. In the weeks leading up to the event, we will be determining the specific rules for the event by asking you, the players, to submit ideas for rules you would like to see. We will choose the best ones and put together the rules that our event will use.
For reference, the core rules (which will stay the same) are these:
+4/+3/+2/+1/+1: Finishing position in a 5-player pod
+4/+3/+2/+1: Finishing position in a 4-player pod
-1: Finish the game without casting your Commander
+1: Give this point to any other player at the table whom has impressed you, for any reason you like.
In addition, we used the following rules at CommanderCon!, which we can use some of again, but we would also like to hear any new rules you have to offer us:
+1 Have 40 or more creatures on the battlefield (infinite creatures doesn’t count).
+1 Cast your Commander at least 4 times from the command zone.
+1 ‘Ultimate’ at least 2 Planeswalkers in a game (without the use of Doubling Season).
+1 ‘Hard cast’ a 10+ mana spell (without cost reductions, X spells don’t count).
+1 Deal at least 10 Commander damage to each opponent.
+1 Have a creature in play with 40 or more power and toughness (infinite/infinite doesn’t count).
-2 Win the game using an infinite combo of 3 or fewer cards.
-1 Win the game using an infinite combo of 4 or more cards.
-1 Take your third consecutive extra turn.
-1 Have 4 or more ‘Hate cards’ on the battlefield at once (e.g. Sphere of Resistance, Thorn of Amethyst, Aven Mindcensor, Gaddock Teeg, etc…).
Keep an eye out on social media for the upcoming polls which will determine the rules we use! Contribute as much or as little as you like!
